Larnaca one of the 20 oldest cities in the world that are still inhabited, according to the Telegraph newspaper


Larnaca has recently been included in the list of the 20 oldest cities in the world that are still inhabited today. The list, compiled by the UK newspaper The Telegraph, also includes Jericho in the Palestinian Territories, Damascus and Aleppo in Syria, amongst others. According to the article published on the www.telegraph.co.uk, the first inhabitants settled in Larnaca in 1,400 BC. Fortunately, Larnaca is one of the few cities from the list, that is still a safe tourist destination.

The Larnaca council has recently approved the building of a new luxury hotel complex on the coastal front of Finikoudes. The project worth over €80 million will be financed by investors from Russia- along with an agreement that a substantial amount of the €80 million, going towards the smartening up of the coastal front.

Another big project in Larnaca will be the setting up of a new open market in the town.
Larnaca is fast becoming a popular tourist destination with the recent improvements in the tourism and town's infrastructure. Along with this, the moving of the oil and gas storage facilities from The Dhekelia road area of Larnaca, to Vasilikos near Limassol, is boosting property demand and tourism.

TERSEFANOU PGA GOLF COURSE HOME TO 15 WIND TURBINES AND COUNTING!


TERSEFANOU VILLAGE, LARNACA, CYPRUS

was promoted as a quaint traditional Greek village just a few years ago.
How things change quickly... Tersefanou village seems to be following The Oroklini example.
Nothing is happening on the proposed Tersefanou, Larnaca Golf Course but the hills behind now have 15 wind Turbines to make up one of the newest wind farms in Cyprus.

 There are supposed to be 6 more wind turbines to come!
Many properties and apartments still stand vacant around Larnaca and many developers are slashing their prices as they wont sell and they cannot rent them either. Many apartments in Tersefanou, Larnaca do not have Title deeds, but hopefully this will change...
With the recent destruction of the main power station on Cyprus, wind power may generate some badly needed electricity, but I wouldnt hold my breathe. Wind is hardly a major power source on an island like Cyprus, but we will see.

PERHAPS AFTER THE RECENT POWER PROBLEMS IN CYPRUS AFTER THE EXPLOSION AT A POWER STATION NEAR ZIGI, AND NOT FAR FROM TERSEFANOU, THIS EXTRA POWER SUPPLY MIGHT HELP. IN THE MEANTIME POWER IS BEING IMPORTED FROM THE ILLEGAL TRNC (TURKISH OCCUPIED NORTH CYPRUS) MAYBE WIND TURBINES MIGHT HAVE A USE ONEDAY ... SURELY SOLAR PANELS ARE MORE APPROPRIATE FOR A COUNTRY WITH PLENTY OF SUN AND NOT SO MUCH WIND...
